Greetings from Centre for
National Security Studies!

Universities initially played the role of carrying out basic research and dissemination of knowledge based on it. Later they assumed the role of identifying societal and industry problems and carrying out applied research to arrive at effective solutions. In modern times universities play a vital role in developed countries by integrating the quad of academia, government, industry and entrepreneurs and contributed to their economies. This was made possible by sustained advocacy by the stakeholders with government to create an enabling government regulation where private universities carried out research funded by both private and government agencies, private industry and entrepreneurs.

India is still taking fledgling steps in this aspect and there is an urgent and inescapable requirement to create enabling systems of funding of research in private universities by the government in a scale much larger than now and creating enabling regulations to encourage industry and entrepreneur partnership in private universities.

Centre for National Security Studies (CNSS) intends to assume the principal role of integrating academy, government, industry and entrepreneurs in a flourishing techno-innovation ecosystem. The Centre is designed to play this role through a triad of programmes.

The Research Programme aims to carry out applied research in all matters pertaining to Comprehensive National Security. The Academic Programme aims to develop and disseminate competitive knowledge in emerging and future technologies to all stakeholders. The Defence Technology Innovation Programme aims to integrate Academia, Ramaiah Technology Centre, Ramaiah Technology Business Incubator and all external stake holders to establish an ecosystem of innovation and co-creation. We intend to focus on national security perspectives based on three pillars ; Indo-Pacific Studies including Maritime Security, Non-traditional Security including Sustainability and Climate Change and Geopolitical implications of Emerging and Deep Technologies.

Our activities will include conduct of Workshops, Round Table discussions, Seminars, and short duration Certificate Courses on the above subjects.

Warm Regards
